CLUBHOUSE: What you need to know...

Clubhouse is the latest social media platform to launch from Silicon Valley and it is taking the world by storm…

What is Clubhouse?

Clubhouse - launched in 2020 - and is an invite only, audio-based iOS app that connects with people to have conversations on a variety of topics. A spokesperson for Club house said the idea is to create a “social experience that is focused on connection, learning and authentic conversations”.

Once invited users can search for topics of interest and join virtual ‘rooms’ where you can either be a member of the audience or join to participate in the discussions. Topics can range from politics and current affairs to sustainability and architecture and so much more.

The ‘rooms’ consist of a host, moderators and the audience. The creator of the room decides who can speak and interested audience members can raise their hand to join the discussion.

Who is currently on Clubhouse?

As well members of the public, several celebrities and business industry leaders are amongst the apps current ‘guestlist’.

How do I join Clubhouse?

Currently you must be invited to join to access Clubhouse. You can however download the app store and join the waiting list. Clubhouse is only available for iPhone (or iPAD) users- with plans to roll out on Android later this year.

How can Built Environment Organisations use Clubhouse?

1. Networking

One of the biggest draws for Clubhouse is the opportunity to network. With physical networking not been made possible for the past year, this new way to interact with industry leaders has revolutionised the notion of connecting.  With a large Architecture, Property and Construction community network already formed on the platform; the possibility to connect with both designers and those actively interested in the Built Environment sector provides ample opportunities for networking and business development.

The high-level exclusivity factor of Clubhouse also allows for access to prominent business leaders and entrepreneurs. Providing unprecedented access to influential people, access to support, development and mentorship, as well as the opportunity to become a thought leader yourself.

2. Brand Value and Communication

From a marketing and branding perspective, Clubhouse also provides your business a new way to communicate and humanise your brand. The voice-note aspect of Clubhouse interactions offers a new level of intimacy in brand communication. The passion, inflection and emotion conveyed in a voice allows participants to form a human connection with your brands story and purpose.

Clubhouse offers the opportunity to share your business insights. Starting your own topic and virtual ‘room’ allows your business to position itself as a thought leader.

3. Market Research

Clubhouse provides an opportunity for a unique form of market research. Connecting with industry leaders, end users, communities and even competitors is all possible via this new social media platform. Businesses have the opportunity to test plans, ideas and products and receive high quality feedback and learnings from an engaged audience.
